Robyn Cates, DVM

Dr. Robyn Cates is from the Pacific Northwest and has a passion for travel and veterinary medicine. Dr. Cates grew up taking care of her pets, visiting the zoo, and studying biology. She received her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of San Diego. After college, she joined the Peace Corps and lived in Zambia for 18 months, immersing herself in the local culture and language, and educating her community about fish farming and various health topics. She traveled through Southern Africa and later to Southeast Asia where she taught scuba diving in Thailand. Dr. Cates returned to the U.S after three years abroad and attended Oregon State University for veterinary school. During her time studying, she had the opportunity to participate in veterinary research in Costa Rica, and she volunteered at a spay/neuter clinic in the Galápagos Islands for one month. Dr. Cates is passionate about preventative medicine and educating communities on pet care. Her other interests include shelter medicine, aquatic medicine, and surgery.

Dr. Cates moved to Oahu in 2021 and is excited about scuba diving, hiking, bodyboarding, and learning more about Hawaii. She currently lives with her partner and freshwater fish and is happy to have joined PetVet Ohana.
